Exeter to Stonehenge via Salisbury: Train & Shuttle Route

Train: Exeter St Davids to Salisbury

South Western Railway operates a direct service from Exeter St Davids to Salisbury. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. For the 10:05 shuttle from Salisbury, you'll need to depart Exeter before 08:00. Morning trains from Exeter to Salisbury typically start around 06:00.

For a more relaxed approach, the 11:05 or 12:05 shuttle from Salisbury allows a departure from Exeter at 09:00ÔÇô09:30 ÔÇö a more civilised start for a weekday visit. Book advance tickets at nationalrail.co.uk or Greater Anglia/SWR apps.

Salisbury to Stonehenge

From Salisbury, the Salisbury to Stonehenge Shuttle handles the rest. 35 minutes from Caboose (opposite the station) to Stonehenge, £20 return. Book in advance to ensure your seat on your chosen departure.

Given the travel time from Exeter, we recommend staying overnight in Salisbury at Caboose and taking the first shuttle the following morning. This turns the trip into a full Wiltshire experience rather than a long day travel day.
